Thank you for your support at the Twizel Salmon & Wine Festival on the 24th of February - we had a blast and we'll see you there next year!

Our People

Established in 2000 by Margaret and Richard Logan, we are the smallest of the two farms raising salmon on the hydro canals surrounding Twizel. Geographically located in the Waitaki District but a stones throw from the Mackenzie District, we like to think of ourselves as operating in the 'High Country', hence our name. Richard was a keen angler and it was his passion for fishing that provided the inspiration, motivation and drive needed to make the farm a reality. While Richard's focus was on the salmon and raising them, Margaret put all her energy into creating a small floating shop to sell the salmon from in a variety of options. As this shop has grown, a cafe has evolved, and the farm has increased production to 200 tonne of salmon per year.

The next generation joined the business with Margaret and Richard's son Peter taking over as Manager, however after his unexpected death in 2019 we have now appointed a new General Manager - Karl French.  Together with Farm Manager Marshall Toki and Business Operations Manager Tracey Gunn, they oversee the daily running of the business.   Margaret still works behind the scenes along with her daughter Jeni who works in the office, and a growing number of grandchildren are experiencing working at the family business.

We employ a dedicated team of around 25 experts in salmon processing, production and cooking, and this number is bolstered by backpackers during summer when we attract large numbers of locals and tourists alike.  As one of the biggest employers in the area, we work hard to give back to the community that surrounds us and are proud to support local businesses and services.
